Norwegian Gender Words
Sex Determiners:
The first thing to look for is the patronymic surname endings.
The male patronymic endings will be
sen, ssen, son, or sson.
This will sometimes be abbreviated with "s."
The female patronymic endings will be
datter, dotter. This will
sometimes be abbreviated with "d." or "dtr."

Birth/Christening Records
The patronymic surname is not often recorded for the name of
the principle in birth or christening records.

The following words will indicate gender of the principal
individual:
sonn, son  = son
dotter, datter = daughter
dreng (drengebarn) = boy (boy child)
fosse = boy
flicka = girl
piga, pige (pigabarn) (pigebarn) = girl (girl child)

Parents in birth/christening records
In legitimate birth records the father is always listed first.
The mother is listed first in cases of illegitimate births, followed
by the name of the natural father.
There are exceptions to this rule, but they are rare.

Marriage
Bridegrooms are always listed first.
